How to make it

  • Beat egg whites and salt and cream of tartar until foamy.
  • Add sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating well after each addition then continue beating until real stiff.
  • Fold in vanilla and nuts and spoon into pie pan and shape as a pie shell and bake at 300 for 50-55 minutes and let cool.
  • Take 1 bar Baker sweet German Chocolate and 3 tablespoons water and put over low heat until chocolate melts and let cool, then add 1 teaspoon vanilla.
  • Whip one cup of whipping cream and pour into chocolate mixture.
  • Pour this into meringue pie shell and chill for 2 hours before eating.
