Bean With Bacon Soup Recipe
This is a hearty soup for a cold day.

Ingredients
  • 1- 16 Oz. Package of dried Navy Beans
  • 9 Cups Water
  • 1 LB. Bacon
  • 2 Onions, Chopped
  • 2 Stalks of Celery, Chopped
  • 4 Teaspoons Chicken Bouillon
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 1/3 Teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 1/8 Teaspoons Ground Cloves
  • 1-16 Oz. Can Diced Tomatoes
  • 4 cups Water

Directions
  1. Boil the beans in 9 cups of water and then let sit for one hour. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook the bacon to your desired texture 9it can be soft or crisp) and drain except for 1/4 cup drippings. Coarsly chop bacon
  3. Add the onions and celery to reserved drippings and bacon. Saute until soft, donot drain. Add the chicken base or cubes, 4 cups water, bay leaf, salt, pepper, and cloves and simmer for 2 hours
  4. Stir in the tomatoes with thier juice.

This looks amazing!! and I just took my dry beans out of the plastic bags into containers, and I do have navy beans.

as a kid, this soup (campbells) was my favorite, next to chicken gumbo. Now I hate that canned stuff--too salty for starters!!
