Kentucky Cake With Butter Sauce Recipe
This recipe comes from a co-worker. She brought this to work for bosses day last week and it was incredible. It's moist and butter and very nice in presentation.

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Butter sauce:
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla or rum

Directions
  1. In large mixing bowl cream butter then gradually add sugar.
  2. In small bowl combine buttermilk and vanilla.
  3. In another bowl sift together flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda.
  4. Add buttermilk mixture alternating with dry ingredients to butter mixture then combine well.
  5. Turn into a greased and floured tube pan and bake at 325 for 1 hour.
  6. For sauce mix sugar, water and butter in small saucepan.
  7. Heat until butter melts but do not boil then add vanilla or rum.
  8. When cake is done prick top with a fork while it is still hot and slowly pour sauce over cake.
  9. Serve warm.
