- 1 kg ground meat, beef. shopping list
- 500 gr elbow paste, ( you can use: buctani,tubini or ziti, (all pipe pastas hollow in the center). shopping list
- 1 medium onion chopped. shopping list
- 2 cloves garlic chopped. shopping list
- 2 medium ripe tomatoes chopped. shopping list
- 2 tbs tomato paste. shopping list
- 2 c grated hard cheese, ( pecorini, parmesan, romano or any other hard cheese you like). shopping list
- 1 c white whine ( no cooking whine please). shopping list
- 1/2 c olive oil. shopping list
- 2 tbs margarine, melted. shopping list
- 1 egg beaten. shopping list
- salt and pepper to taste. shopping list
- 1/2 ts rosemary fresh chopped or 1 ts dried. shopping list
- 1/2 ts oregano fresh chopped or 1 ts dried. shopping list
- 1/2 ts ground cumin. shopping list
- 1 egg beaten. shopping list
- 1tbs bread crumbs. shopping list
- For bechamel sauce see in my recipe for papoutsakia. shopping list
How to make it
- Boil pasta 2 min less then packing instructions, drain and set aside.
- As cooled mix with 2 tbs grated cheese.
- Cook onion in oil on low heat till soft 5 min add garlic and cook another 5 min, add ground meet and stirr cook with a fork ca 10 min till browned.
- Add salt , pepper, herbs, tomato and paste and whine cook stirr for 5 min more.
- Butter a roasting pan, top with bread crumbs,put 1 layer of pasta 1/2 the amount, add melted butter and beaten egg and half of the grated cheese.
- Add meat mixture, see that it goes everywhere, put in the rest of the pasta, the rest of the cheese and top with the bechamel sauce.
- Bake in preheated oven 170 C 30 - 40 min or till brown on top.
- Serve with a light green salad.
