How to make it

  • Sauté' the onions, green pepper, jalapeno, and garlic in oil until the onions are translucent. Add the beef and cook, stirring until the meat is lightly browned. Drain off all the fat, add the salt, pepper, and cumin, and cook for 1 minute more, stirring all the time to season evenly. Add the ketchup and tomatoes and cook, uncovered, over low heat until reduced to a thick sauce. Serve on toasted buns.

    I loved Ed Debevics when I was in Chicago with a group of friends. We called it the Rude Restaurant and had a wonderful time there.
