How to make it

  • Disclaimer: I don't do quantities, just use common sense, guestimate, and live on the edge. Those of you out there who follow http://www.freshtoday.org know what I am talking about ;)
  • Put the butter and brown sugar in a big heavy frying pan. Melt and mix on medium heat while you slice in the bananas. Add banana liquer, cinnamon and vanilla extract and keep mixing. Keep mixing and cooking till the bananas are soft, but not mushy. Add the rum, turn the heat high, tip the pan so rum collects towards the edge, and light the fumes with a match held OVER the edge. Don't do this under a wood cabinet. and tell the kids to stand back a little, even if they are curious :)
  • When the fire in the pan goes out, pour the banana/sauce concoction over ice cream and serve immediately.
