Ingredients

How to make it

  • The dough I'm looking for bakes up soft like a canned crescent roll but it is made from scratch.
  • Dough is slightly sweet, but doesn't overpower the chocolate.
  • Dough uses yeast, contains sugar, & maybe an egg or two.
  • The KAF dough recipe was tasty, but texture was not what I was looking for.
  • Each ball of dough was rolled in a mix of cocoa powder, chopped milk chocolate chips and sugar then placed in a tube or bundt pan for baking-this was good...(but may be better with a drizzle of semi-melted peanut butter on it after baking....whaddayathink?)
  • Any bakers out there who can help?

I made one after tasting one at a baby shower last Spring--just scrumptious. Did lots of research online, and then thought I'd edit for fat. In the end, I bought housebrand tube biscuits, cut them in quarters. Arranged them in the pan. Poured the syrup over it. It baked, it rose, and it was delicious! (I think I still have the recipe for the "syrup".

Why not grate bittersweet chocolate over the dough before baking?

What you are looking for is Danish Pastry dough. It is not hard to make, but it is time consuming. I'll see if I can find my recipe for it. HTH :)
