Turkish Cornbread - Misir Ekmegi Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 cup yellow corn meal
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup yogurt, plain
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp lemon zest

Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 400° F (200° C).
  2. Mix the corn meal, flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Whisk milk, yogurt, sugar, egg and olive oil in another bowl.
  4. Stir wet into dry ingredients and whisk.
  5. Pour the batter into an oiled Loaf tin.
  6. Place tin on the middle rack of oven
  7. Bake for about 45 minutes.
  8. turn the Cornbread out onto a wire rack to cool.
  9. Then slice this delicious Turkish Cornbread and serve.

Well...it does sound like it will be different and good, a bit of a departure from the norm. I do like Turkish food and will have to give this a try,
