Ingredients
  • 6 cup peeled,cored,sliced, apples 1/4 inch thick
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tea nutmeg
  • 1/8 tea salt
  • 1/2 tea cinnamon
  • 1 tbl butter
  • 1/4 cup raisins optional

Directions
  1. roll out pastry on floured surface and line a 9" pie plate
  2. fill with sliced apples. mix sugar,salt,nutmeg,and cinnamon.
  3. sprinkle over apples, sprinkle with lemon juice.
  4. dot with butter, cover with top crust, seal and crimp
  5. flute edges. prick top crust with a fork.
  6. bake at 425 degrees for 40 minutes

Hi, Frodo! Looks like you've been busy making one of my favorites - this one reminds me of Mom's homemade apple pie! And since I live about 10 minutes away from the apple 'Mecca' of the world (Wenatchee, Washington), I've got tons of fresh apples at my disposal. Love the nutmeg in your recipe - Mom always used cinnamon only. Nice change! Thanks for sharing. - Natalie
