Gingerbread Upside-Down Cake

- 1/2 stick butter, in pats shopping list
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar shopping list
- 2 pears, sliced (can use canned) shopping list
- 1 14 ounce box gingerbread mix shopping list
How to make it
- Put butter in an 8" round cake pan OR a cast iron skillet.
- Prepare boxed gingerbread according to package directions.
- Set aside.
- Place pan in oven to melt butter while oven is preheating to 350 degrees F.
- Remove pan from heat when butter has melted.
- Sprinkle brown sugar evenly in pan.
- Arrange pears atop the sugar in the pan, filling pan as much as possible.
- Pour prepared gingerbread mix onto pears.
- Bake for 50 to 60 minutes OR until gingerbread tests done.
- Remove from oven.
- Cool five minutes on a rack.
- Invert cake onto plate.
- Garnish with whipped cream dollops.
