These are practically a health food - no added fat, whole grain, hardly any sugar, and full of antioxidant-rich cocoa and mood-lifting chocolate chips! Who needs a better excuse?

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour
  • 1 cup quick oats (not instant)
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp coarse sea salt
  • 1 egg replacer (like Ener-G brand), prepared
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup agave nectar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 2/3 cup mini chocolate chips

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 F, lightly grease or line baking sheets.
  2. Blend flour, oats, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt well in a bowl.
  3. In another bowl, blend egg replacer, brown sugar, agave nectar and vanilla.
  4. Add wet ingredients to the dry, stirring only until moistened.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Bake 10 minutes.
  7. Cool 5 minutes on sheets, then remove to racks and cool completely.

I made these and omitted some of the sugar. They are great for an extreme-chocolate treat (lower in fat). However, I think the step to add the cocoa is missing up there- I put it in with the dry stuff.
These are great and so much healthier than similar treats!
