Cracked Peppercorn Parmesan Braid

- 1-1/4 cups warm water shopping list
- 2 packages active dry yeast shopping list
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar shopping list
- 1-1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 4 cups all purpose flour shopping list
- 1 egg plus 1 yolk shopping list
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese shopping list
- 2 teaspoons chervil shopping list
- 1 egg white lightly beaten shopping list
- 1 teaspoon cracked black peppercorn shopping list
- 1 teaspoon paprika shopping list
- Finely grated parmesan shopping list
How to make it
- Place 1/2 cup warm water in large bowl and sprinkle in yeast and stir until dissolved.
- Add remaining water, sugar, pepper, salt and 1 cup flour then blend well.
- Stir in egg, egg yolk, chervil, parmesan cheese and enough flour to make soft dough. Knead on lightly floured board until smooth and elastic about 5 minutes.
- Place in greased bowl then turn and cover with towel.
- Allow to rise in warm area 45 minutes then punch dough.
- Remove dough to lightly floured board and divide into 3 equal pieces.
- Gently roll each piece to 12” rope then braid ropes and place on greased baking sheet.
- Pinch each end to seal then cover with towel and let rise in warm place 40 minutes.
- Brush loaf with egg white then sprinkle with cracked pepper and paprika.
- Bake at 375 for 30 minutes then sprinkle with more parmesan and remove from oven.
