- 1 Stick of butter,unsalted(no sub.please,just real butter) shopping list
- 1/4 Cup brown sugar,firmly packed shopping list
- 6 Tablespoons corn syrup shopping list
- 2 Cups figs,dried,and quartered shopping list
- 2 Cups walnuts,chopped coarsely shopping list
- 1/4 Cup heavy cream shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon shopping list
- 1 Crumb Crust shopping list
- For Creamy Sauce: shopping list
- 1/2 Cup brown sugar,firmly packed shopping list
- 2 Tablespoons corn syrup shopping list
- 2 -1/2 Tablespoons instant espresso powder shopping list
- 1-1/2 Tablespoons butter,unsalted shopping list
- 3 oz unsweetened chocolate,chopped shopping list
- 1/2 Cup heavy cream shopping list
- 1-1/2 Tablespoons coffee liqueur shopping list
- Combine the brown sugar,corn syrup,espresso powder,and butter in pan,bring mixture to boil,and continue to boil(watching,stirring) for about 1 to 1/2 minutes.Remove the pan from heat and stir in the chocolate,and heavy cream,stir until chocolate melts and sauce is smooth.Pour sauce through a fine mesh strainer into container. Stir in coffee liqueur,cool,cover,refrigerate.Reheat sauce before serving with slices of pie. shopping list
How to make it
- For Pie:
- Combine the butter,brown sugar,and corn syrup in pan.
- Bring to boil.
- Boil mixture for about 1-1/2 minutes.
- Stir in the figs,walnuts,heavy cream,and cinnamon.
- Bring back to boil.
- Reduce heat to simmer and cook for about 5 minutes.
- Fill the crumb crust with hot fig mixture.
- Cool.
- Cover with plastic wrap,and refrigerate until completely set,about 4 hours.
- Top each slice with the Creamy Sauce
