How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Line a 9X13 baking pan with foil so that is extends of the edges of the pan for easy removal of the bars. Spray foil with cooking spray.
  • In a 4 qt. sauce pan, combine figs and 1/2 c. water, heat to boiling over high heat.
  • Remove sauce pan from heat, stir in oats, sugar, molasses, and butter until well blended.
  • Add flour and remaining bar ingredients and stir until well combined.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for about 25 minutes or until toothipick comes out clean.
  • Cool for 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile prepare hard sauce glaze. Stir glaze ingredients in a small bowl until blended.
  • Lift bar cookie out of the pan by the extended foil ends and place on a rack.
  • Brush glaze on still warm cookie. Cool completely.
  • Cut into squares or little triangles.
  • Enjoy.
