- BARS: shopping list
- 5 oz. black mission figs finely chopped shopping list
- 1/2 c. water shopping list
- 1 c. quick cooking oats (uncooked) shopping list
- 3/4 c. brown sugar shopping list
- 1/3 c. dark molasses shopping list
- 3 tblspns. butter shopping list
- 1 large egg shopping list
- 1/2 c. flour shopping list
- 1/2 c. wheat germ shopping list
- 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice shopping list
- 1 tsp. grated fresh orange peel shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder shopping list
- HARD SAUCE GLAZE: shopping list
- 1 c. confectioner's sugar shopping list
- 2 tblspns. brandy shopping list
- 1 tblspn. warm water shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Line a 9X13 baking pan with foil so that is extends of the edges of the pan for easy removal of the bars. Spray foil with cooking spray.
- In a 4 qt. sauce pan, combine figs and 1/2 c. water, heat to boiling over high heat.
- Remove sauce pan from heat, stir in oats, sugar, molasses, and butter until well blended.
- Add flour and remaining bar ingredients and stir until well combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for about 25 minutes or until toothipick comes out clean.
- Cool for 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile prepare hard sauce glaze. Stir glaze ingredients in a small bowl until blended.
- Lift bar cookie out of the pan by the extended foil ends and place on a rack.
- Brush glaze on still warm cookie. Cool completely.
- Cut into squares or little triangles.
- Enjoy.
