Adult Hot Chocolate Recipe

Adult Hot Chocolate Recipe
A fabulously rich hot chocolate for late fall and winter evenings. The stout is boiled for long enough that the effects of the alcohol are minimized, but the flavor is rich, sweet, bitter, and spicy!

Ingredients
  • 2 12-ounce bottles Samuel Adams (or other) Cream Stout
  • 6 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
  • Lemon wedge to rim the glasses
  • Granulated sugar to rim the glasses
  • 4 ounces best quality semi-sweet chocolate, chopped or chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon chile powder

Directions
  1. Warm 4 glasses (martini glasses work well) by filling them with hot water and letting them sit while you make the hot chocolate
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat combine the beer and the brown sugar and bring to a gentle boil, cooking for about 3 minutes.
  3. While the chocolate is cooking, pour the water out of the glasses, run the lemon wedge around the glass rims and dip the rims in a saucer of granulated sugar.
  4. Reduce the heat under the saucepan to low and whisk in the chocolate and chile powder.
  5. Pour into warmed sugar-rimmed glasses and enjoy with a best friend!

I say don't boil the stout quite so long and add a couple shots of good vodka. NOW you have a middle of the winter adult hot chocolate...;-)At least hear in the Midwest... ;-)~

Nice recipe, saving this.. Hope you had a great Valentine's Day.... Jim

Outstanding suggestion Jim! And it's staying just cold enough around here that this might be the perfect opportunity to give it a "shot"! Thanks for the comment!
