Ingredients
  • 150 g Mehl- flour- about 1 1/4 cups
  • 50 g Zucker- Sugar, about 1/4 cup
  • 100 g Butter- Butter- a little less than 1 stick of butter
  • 1 Eigelb- 1egg yolk
  • 1 Pr Salz - dash salt
  • 1 EL Wasser - 1 Tbs water
  • 60 Stk Toffifee - 60 pieces brand of caramel cups
  • 3 Eiwess - 3 egg white
  • 100 g Puderzucker- powdered sugar about 4/5 cup
  • 1 TL Speisestärke ( 1 Tbs food starch like cornstach )

Directions
  1. The German first and then my closest translation. Feel free to correct anything but I beleive my translation will produce the desired outcome!
  2. Aus Mehl, Zucker, Butter, Eigelb, Salz und Wasser einen
  3. Knetteig herstellen.
  4. Evtl. 1 Stunde in den Kühlschrank stellen.
  5. Teig ausrollen, Kreise ausstechen, auf ein mit Backpapier
  6. ausgelegtes Backblech legen.
  7. Toffifee umgedreht auf die Plätzchen legen.
  8. Eiwess sehr steif schlagen, dann erst Puderzucker einrieseln
  9. lassen.
  10. Stärke dazugeben und nicht mehr zu lange rühren.
  11. Evtl, etwas in den Kühlschrank stellen.
  12. Mit Spritzbeutel die Toffifee damit überziehen.
  13. Bei 175 Grad im vorgeheizten Backofen, ca. 15 - 20 Min. backen.
  14. Je nach Geschmack mit Schokoglasur verzieren.
  15. Abkühlen lassen und genießen.
  16. Vorsicht, die reichen meistens nur ein Wochenende
  17. ENGLISH :Approximate translation:
  18. Mix flour, sugar, butter, egg yolks, salt and water to produce a dough
  19. Let chill/stand 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  20. Roll out dough, cut out circles and place on a baking paper lined baking sheet.
  21. Place a Toffifee on the cookies
  22. Beat whites stiff gradualy beating in then powdered sugar and starch - try to use immediately so the stiffness is maintained, ( but if not chill and use as soon as possible )
  23. Use a Piping bag , pipe whites over the toffee candy on cookie
  24. Bake 175 degrees, preheated , (I beleive 350F for American ovens ) 15 - 20 Min.
  25. Depending on your taste one may decorate with chocolate glaze
  26. Let cool and enjoy.
  27. Beware, these rich cookies would last mostly a weekend!
