my husband's grandma taught me how to make these soft yummy dinner rolls!

Ingredients
  • 1 cup warm water ( 105 to 115 degrees)
  • 2 pk yeast ( not rapid rise)
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4-4 1/2 cup flour (not sifted)

Directions
  1. preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. combine warm water and yeast in a small bowl, let stand 5 mins or until foamy (add a pinch of sugar to get going)
  3. stir butter, sugar, eggs and salt with a wooden spoon in a large bowl
  4. add foamy yeast mixture
  5. stir in flour 1 cup at a time
  6. it is a a very soft sticky dough
  7. cover and refridgerate for at least 2 hours (may cover with siran wrap or wax paper, let rise in the bowl. it may sit there up to 4 days)
  8. grease a 9 x 13 cake pan
  9. turn out chilled dough on floured board
  10. knead dough a bit to warm up
  11. roll out dough to about the size of your pan and cut into 24 equal pieces (squares) about 2 inches by 2 inches
  12. roll into balls with hands, then place thumbs in middle of ball and pull the sides around thumbs to form an oval shaped rounded roll
  13. dip in cooled melted butter and place in the baking dish 4 accross by 6 down
  14. cover dish with 24 rolls with a warm damp clean towel and let rise at least 2 hrs or until rolls have puffed to double their original size
  15. bake 15 to 20 mins or until golden brown. baste with melted butter while baking to glaze
