How to make it

  • preheat oven to 375 degrees
  • combine warm water and yeast in a small bowl, let stand 5 mins or until foamy (add a pinch of sugar to get going)
  • stir butter, sugar, eggs and salt with a wooden spoon in a large bowl
  • add foamy yeast mixture
  • stir in flour 1 cup at a time
  • it is a a very soft sticky dough
  • cover and refridgerate for at least 2 hours (may cover with siran wrap or wax paper, let rise in the bowl. it may sit there up to 4 days)
  • grease a 9 x 13 cake pan
  • turn out chilled dough on floured board
  • knead dough a bit to warm up
  • roll out dough to about the size of your pan and cut into 24 equal pieces (squares) about 2 inches by 2 inches
  • roll into balls with hands, then place thumbs in middle of ball and pull the sides around thumbs to form an oval shaped rounded roll
  • dip in cooled melted butter and place in the baking dish 4 accross by 6 down
  • cover dish with 24 rolls with a warm damp clean towel and let rise at least 2 hrs or until rolls have puffed to double their original size
  • bake 15 to 20 mins or until golden brown. baste with melted butter while baking to glaze
