Ham And Cheese In Puff Pastry Recipe
This recipe is adapted from the Barefoot Contessa Recipe. It can be changed to suit your personal taste. It was the favorite at our Christmas Gathering!

Ingredients
  • 1 package (two sheets) frozen puff pastry, defrosted
  • 2 tablespoons Chipotle Mustard
  • 1/2 pound Black Forest Ham, Sliced at deli
  • 1/2 pound Greyere Cheese, sliced
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place parchment paper on a sheet Pan.
  2. Lay 1 sheet of puff pastry on a floured board and carefully roll it out to 10x12 inches.
  3. Place on sheet pan and brush with the mustard, leaving 1 inch borders around the edge.
  4. Place a layer of ham over the mustard and a layer of cheese over the ham, leaving the 1 inch border around the edge.
  5. Brush the border with egg wash.
  6. Place the second sheet of puff pastry on the floured board and roll out to 10X12 inches.
  7. Place the second sheet on top of the filled pastry, lining up the edges.
  8. Cut the edges straight with a small, sharp knife and press together lightly.
  9. Brush the top with the egg wash and cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
  10. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until puffed and golden brown. Allow to cool for a few minutes and serve hot or warm.
