Orangey French Toast

This is a slight twist on the traditional French toast recipe, giving it a fresh brightness suitable to winter or spring. I've made it for myself now twice in three days and it is just scrumptuous.
Ingredients
- 6-8 slices bread shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 3/4 c. milk shopping list
- dash of ginger or cardamom shopping list
- dash of clove shopping list
- liberal cinnamon shopping list
- 1/8 tsp. orange extract shopping list
- 1 tbsp. butter shopping list
How to make it
- In a bowl big enough to sop your bread slices in, mix all of the ingredients with a fork or spoon until egg is incorporated.
- Over medium to medium-high heat, melt butter in a frying pan (or use a griddle if you have one).
- Dip the bread into the egg mixture coating both sides before placing in the pan. Cook each side golden brown and serve with warm maple syrup.
- Suggestions: you can use orange zest if you don't have the extract, it works just as well.
