How to make it

  • Prepare the hot roll mix according to package,through the first rising step.
  • Cook the sausage,ground round and onion untl the meat is cooked and the onion is tender,drain.
  • Reserve 1 tablespoon of beaten egg.
  • In bowl combine remaining egg,bread crumbs,1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper,plus basil.
  • Stir in meat mixture,set aside.
  • On floured surface,roll 3/4 dough to a 15" circle,fit dough in bottom and up sides of a greased 9" springform pan,allowing dough to overlap pan edge 1".
  • Spoon meat mixture over dough.
  • Combine cheese,ricotta cheese,and nutmeg,stir in broccoli.
  • Spoon broccoli mixture over meat.
  • Top with carrots.
  • On floured surface roll out remaining dough to 9" circle,place atop filling.
  • Bring excess dough from bottom crust over top,making a roll top as you go and seal.
  • Brush with reserved egg,cut slits for steam to escape.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.
  • Cover with foil after 30 minutes.
  • Cool about 10 minutes,cut into wedges.
