Easy bread to make,very dilly and is a good bread with a sea food stew or any warm soup.

Ingredients
  • 1 un beaten egg
  • 1/4 tsp Baking soda
  • 2 Tbsp. Dill seed
  • 1/4 Cup Warm water
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1 Cup cream cottage cheese
  • 1 Tbsp instant minced onion
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 2-1/4 Cup Flour
  • 1 Pkg. dry yeast

Directions
  1. 1. Mix dry yeast with warm water in a bowl. Five minutes
  2. 2. Warm the cottage cheese in a pan, just to warm it.
  3. 3. Combine in bowl all ingredients and add yeast and cottage cheese.
  4. 4. Mix to form a stiff dough.
  5. 5. Cover and let rise until double in size 30- 60 min.
  6. 6. Work down, add to greased 8 inch casserole or 2 quart dish.
  7. let rise until light.
  8. bake 350 for 30 to 40 mins or light brown. Top with butter.

I'm going to try this in my bread maker.


I've done it, and it worked out fine. As usual, I had to mess with the recipe. I used Whole Wheat flour as that is all I use these days. I was out of baking soda of all things, so I skipped that. I worried that the two TABLESPOONS of dill was a typo, so I added only one. I nuked the 2% cottage cheese to warm it, added the wet ingredients and the sugar first, then the flour and salt, and finally the baking soda.

The bread has a fine sharp dill taste when warm or toasted.


Oh boy! Here in the Carribean, dilly is an actual fruit, so you had me excited for a second there. Dill, on the other hand, is something else. Am sure this tastes good still
