Orange Pecans

Fun nibble with drinks when the cayenne is added. Grandma used these sans pepper to sprinkle over homemade vanilla ice cream or orange sherbert.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of sugar shopping list
- juice of two oranges shopping list
- grated rind of one orange shopping list
- 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (more if you dare) shopping list
- or substitute a chipotle powder for a smokier kick shopping list
- generous pinch of salt shopping list
- 1 lb. of shelled pecan halves shopping list
How to make it
- Mix sugar, juice and rind in a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat.
- cook slowly 15 minutes.
- Remove from heat, stir in pepper, salt and pecans.
- Stir.
- When well coated, drop from tip of spoon onto greased cookie sheet
- or wax paper.
- Cool.
- Store in airtight container.
