- Filling shopping list
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar shopping list
- 2 tablespoon all- purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 5 cups peeled,thinly sliced cooking apples,such as golden delicious or johathan(about 1 2/3 pounds) shopping list
- 2 cups cubed (1/2 inch)soft country white bread shopping list
- 2 tablespoons (1/4 stick) butter,melted shopping list
- Topping shopping list
- 2 cups cubed (1/2 inch) soft country white bread shopping list
- 3 tablespoons butter,melted shopping list
- vanilla ice cream (optional) shopping list
- cinnamon (optional) shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 375*F.For the filling,combine the granulated and brown sugars,the flour,cinnamon and salt in a large bowl.Add the apples.Toss until evenly coated.
- Add the bread cubes to the apple mixture.Drizzle with the melted butter.Mix well.Tranfer the mixture to an ungreased 8-inch square baking dish.
- For the topping,place the bread cubes in a medium bowl.Drizzle with the melted butter.Mix well.Sprinkle evenly over filling.
- Bake until the apples are tender and topping is golden,25-30 minutes.Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and sprinkle with cinnamon,if desired.
