Ruby Red Tofu

- 2 T chili oil shopping list
- 2 T sesame oil shopping list
- 1/3 c catsup shopping list
- 1 teas chile paste with garlic (more or less to taste) shopping list
- 1/4 c honey or powdered sugar shopping list
- 12 oz extra firm tofu (or 12 oz chicken breasts) shopping list
- 2-3 T oil for frying shopping list
- Chopped green onion for garnish shopping list
How to make it
- Cube the tofu into 3/4 inch cubes (same with chicken).
- Heat the frying oil and add the tofu. Pan fry until the top and bottom are crispy. (if using chicken, toos in some corn starch before frying)
- Remove and drain on a paper towel.
- In a work add the sesame and chili oil. Heat until hot.
- Add the catsup and chile paste with garlic. Stir constantly. The color will darked to a deeper red.
- Stir in the honey and mix well.
- Add tofu or chicken and toss to coat.
- Garnish with green onion and serve with white or fried rice.
- I also substitute tender crisp green beans for half the tofu.
