This is one of My Dad's favorite Cookie recipe. that his Mother used to make, when he was a child gowning up. it's from around 1930 or so.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp soda
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions
  1. cream sugar eggs and Crisco
  2. Combine flour. soda,and baking powders
  3. Add flour and buttermilk slowly to sugar mixture to make a soft dough
  4. Roll out approximately 1/4 inch thick Cut out cookies with glass or
  5. cookie cutter.
  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes at 350 degrees
