How to make it

  • While culling berries pierce each one with a needle to curtail bursting while baking.
  • Place berries in a round shallow glass casserole dish and sprinkle with sugar.
  • Toss to coat berries well.
  • Make a hole in center of berries and pour water into hole but do not stir then cover.
  • Bake at 300 for 45 minutes.
  • Drain off berries and reserve liquid.
  • Microwave liquid until thin syrup forms watching careful so it does not caramelize.
  • Pour light syrup over berries then chill well before serving.
