Spicy Shrimp Creole

- 2 T olive oil shopping list
- 1 onion diced shopping list
- 1 red bell pepper diced shopping list
- 1 green bell diced shopping list
- 1 c diced celery shopping list
- 1 can diced tomatoes, undrained (15 oz) shopping list
- 8 oz tomato sauce shopping list
- 4 clove garlic minced shopping list
- 1 teas paprika shopping list
- 1 teas chile powder shopping list
- 1 teas italian seasoning shopping list
- 1/4 teas cayenne shopping list
- 2 T Louisana style hot sauce (or more to taste) shopping list
- 2 c + water shopping list
- 1 T lemon juice shopping list
- 1 lb raw shrimp, deveined, peeld and tail removed shopping list
- 2 c. cooked rice ( love the sticky rice) shopping list
How to make it
- In pot heat the olive oil
- Add the onion, bell peppers and celery.
- Saute over medium heat until the onion is translucent.
- Add the garlic, diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce.
- Stir in the paprika, chili powder, cayenne, and Italian seasoning.
- Add 2 T hotsauce and 2 cups water.
- Simmer for at least an hour adding more water if the creole gets too thick.
- 15 minutes before serving, add the shrimp and lemon juice.
- Place 1/2 cup rice in a bowl. Ladle the creole over the top.
- This is great on a cold Minnesota day.
