Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 can (12 fluid ounces) Nestlé Carnation Evaporated Milk
  • 1 can (14.5 fluid ounces) chicken broth
  • 1/2 to 1 pound mild Italian sausage, cooked and drained
  • 1 can (15.5 ounces) cannellini (white kidney beans), undrained
  • Salt
  • Ground black pepper

Directions
  1. MELT butter in medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook, stirring occasionally, 1 to 2 minutes or until onion is tender. Stir in flour. Gradually stir in evaporated milk and broth. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil. Add sausage and beans. Heat through. Season to taste with salt and ground black pepper.

Just Made This For Lunch. Added Some Fresh Chopped Parsley and Cilantro, Finely Chopped Carrots & Diced Potatoes...Incredible! The Flour & Evaporated Milk Made This Soup Very Rich & Creamy. Great Post Otter.

Alterations


I used 3 links of Smoked Applewurst Sausage, New Braunfels Smokehouse because that was what I had on hand. Calories and such are based on using that sausage which is roughly equivalent to the italian sausage. Also I couldn't help throwing in a handful or two of baby spinach leaves. It was just so very very white.
