Ingredients
  • 20 whole dried chilies
  • 1/2 tsp. shrimp paste
  • 3 med garlic cloves
  • 1/5 c tamarind juice
  • 1/2" piece turmeric
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1/2 salt
  • 2 med onion, chopped
  • 5 bilimbi sliced
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1" piece ginger

Directions
  1. -soak dried chillies in water for an hour. drain and wash
  2. -blend chillies with all ingredient except bilimbi and onion
  3. -heat oil in saucepan
  4. -fry onion till' soft
  5. -pour in blended ingredients
  6. -cook 20 min on low
  7. -add salt, tamarind juice, and sugar
  8. -add bilimbi and cook for 10 min
  9. -serve with rice or as dipping sauce

This sounds like it has quite an interesting flavor. I think I have seen bilimbi at a South Asian vegetable market in Chicago but didn't know what it was or how to cook it. Thanks for sharing the recipe....;-)~
