Bilimbi Relish

- 20 whole dried chilies shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. shrimp paste shopping list
- 3 med garlic cloves shopping list
- 1/5 c tamarind juice shopping list
- 1/2" piece turmeric shopping list
- 2 tsp oil shopping list
- 1/2 salt shopping list
- 2 med onion, chopped shopping list
- 5 bilimbi sliced shopping list
- 2 tsp sugar shopping list
- 1" piece ginger shopping list
How to make it
- -soak dried chillies in water for an hour. drain and wash
- -blend chillies with all ingredient except bilimbi and onion
- -heat oil in saucepan
- -fry onion till' soft
- -pour in blended ingredients
- -cook 20 min on low
- -add salt, tamarind juice, and sugar
- -add bilimbi and cook for 10 min
- -serve with rice or as dipping sauce

This sounds like it has quite an interesting flavor. I think I have seen bilimbi at a South Asian vegetable market in Chicago but didn't know what it was or how to cook it. Thanks for sharing the recipe....;-)~jimrug1 in Peoria loved it
