Sugar-Topped Brownie Cake Recipe
The fudge batter is sprinkled with brown sugar and chocolate chips so there's no need to frost this easy cake.

  • Preparation time: 15 minutes ~ Baking time: 30 minutes
  • ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup LAND O LAKES Margarine, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups real semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt in large bowl.
  3. Add milk, margarine, egg and vanilla.
  4. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed.
  5. Spread batter into greased 13x9-inch baking pan.
  6. Sprinkle with brown sugar; sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  8. Cool completely.
  9. 15 servings

Yum!


It's easier to cream the marg, sugar, egg and vanilla first, then add the milk followed by the dry ingredients. Less flour flying that way.

Ooh, and if you like your bars "chewy", melt the margarine! Yummy!!
