~I never could make a crust ,no matter how hard I've tried over the years,but,this one made by someone who knows how,sure was good.~Pretty old recipe~

Ingredients
  • 2-1/2 Cups Flour,sifted
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Cup Lard
  • 1 Farm Fresh Egg,beaten
  • 1 Tablespoon Vinegar
  • Cold Water

Directions
  1. Cut the lard into the flour and salt.
  2. Beat the egg in a 1-1/2 cup measureing cup,add vinegar and fill cup with cold water.
  3. Adding enough of this to the flour to make a dough that will hold together in a ball.
  4. Make sure not to handle the dough with warm hands to much.
  5. Roll out ,line pan,pour whatever you like in for the fillling,cover with more pastry,fuss a bit with the crimping ,place in oven bake.

Yep the vinegar does the trick have made it works well.


Good one! My wife's closest friend was very good at making pie shells and this is just what she did. Old recipes last forever because there is no better way. Thanks.


I always have a hard time with pie crust. sometimes on and sometimes off. lol . thanks for the post
