Cheese Bread Sanibel Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 cup of milk
  • 1 1/4 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 pkge dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 4 1/2 cups of sifted flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/3 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dry mustard

Directions
  1. Heat milk and add grated cheese to soften.
  2. Cool mixture before proceeding.
  3. Put warm water in a large bowl, sprinkle yeast over top.
  4. Stir to dissolve, add sugar, cooled cheese mixture and flour sifted with salt, pepper and mustard.
  5. Place in greased bowl, cover with clean tea towel and let rise until double.
  6. PUnch down and let rise again.
  7. Grease 2 (4x8) loaf pans.
  8. Divide dough in half, shape and put inot pans.
  9. Let rise to top of pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until brown.
  10. Remove from pans and cool on wire rack.
  11. Brush with melted butter.
  12. makes two loaves.
