Ingredients
  • ½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons ground cumin
  • 2 Tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • Mix all ingredients in a small bowl and then store in a air-tight jar and use on chicken, beef or pork chops. It is way better than Shake n Bake and better for you. I usually make up double the batch and when I coat the food I just put a little in a small bowl and dip into the seasoning. That way, it sticks on the food better.
  • I’ve coated whole chickens with this and they come out great in this.
  • If you want you can put the seasoning in a large plastic bag and then shake the chicken around in it or whatever meat you happen to use.

This recipe is definately "hot" not in temperature but just awesome! Once you try it on chicken or pork you'll be a convert. You can couble the recipe which is what I usually do.

Hey Carol,
I'm glad you liked it. You'll love the flavor on chicken or pork chops. I've never tried it with beef, although you could try it. I was watching the Food Channel the other night on BBQ's and this one is similar to a lot of the ones they use in some of the Texas BBQ places there. I've never been to Texas but would love to go there and sample some of the "grub".


Sounds like a great seasoning...I'm not to fond of the store bought pork seasonings so I'm adding this to my recipe list. Thanks!
