How to make it

  • In large heavy skillet heat butter and oil over medium low heat.
  • Add onions, thyme, salt and pepper then sauté slowly 15 minutes stirring occasionally.
  • Add brown sugar and 2 tablespoons lemon juice then sauté 5 minutes.
  • Stir in remaining tablespoon lemon juice and continue cooking 5 minutes.
