CHEESE RICE STRATA This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Metzger Estate in Grand Prairie, Texas in 1994.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup white onion chopped
  • 1 cup celery chopped
  • 1/2 cup dried tart cherries
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh marjoram chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 3 cups cooked rice

Directions
  1. Place onion, celery, cherries, walnuts, thyme, marjoram, pepper and margarine in large skillet.
  2. Cook uncovered over medium heat 10 minutes stirring occasionally.
  3. Add rice then mix well and cook 4 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
