Ingredients
  • 1/3 cup Bacon Drippings/ grease
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped onion.
  • 1 clove garlic. Minced.
  • 2/3 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups diced potato
  • 2 cups tomato puree (or 1 can 6 oz tomato paste and 2 cups cold water)
  • 1 1/2 quarts water
  • 1 tbs Worcestershire
  • 12 whole cloves
  • Dash Tobasco
  • 1 Tbs Paprika
  • 1 crumbled bay leaf
  • 1 Tbs salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 1/2 pounds fish fillets
  • 1 lemon, sliced

Directions
  1. Cook dripping and flour slowly in large pot until the flour turns a toasted brown.
  2. Add onion, garlic and green peppers. Cook 5 minutes.
  3. Add potatoes, tomato puree, water and seasonings.
  4. Cover, simmer for 30 minutes
  5. Add fish that is cut into 1 inch pieces, cover and simmer 10 more minutes.
  6. Add thin lemon slices as garnish.
