Bayou Fish Chowder

- 1/3 cup bacon drippings/ grease shopping list
- 1/3 cup flour shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups chopped onion. shopping list
- 1 clove garlic. Minced. shopping list
- 2/3 cup chopped green pepper shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups diced potato shopping list
- 2 cups tomato puree (or 1 can 6 oz tomato paste and 2 cups cold water) shopping list
- 1 1/2 quarts water shopping list
- 1 tbs Worcestershire shopping list
- 12 whole cloves shopping list
- Dash Tobasco shopping list
- 1 Tbs paprika shopping list
- 1 crumbled bay leaf shopping list
- 1 Tbs salt shopping list
- 1/4 tsp pepper shopping list
- 1 1/2 pounds fish fillets shopping list
- 1 lemon, sliced shopping list
How to make it
- Cook dripping and flour slowly in large pot until the flour turns a toasted brown.
- Add onion, garlic and green peppers. Cook 5 minutes.
- Add potatoes, tomato puree, water and seasonings.
- Cover, simmer for 30 minutes
- Add fish that is cut into 1 inch pieces, cover and simmer 10 more minutes.
- Add thin lemon slices as garnish.
