Applesauce Jam Cake

- 3 cups sifted flour shopping list
- 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda shopping list
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon shopping list
- 1 teaspoon cloves shopping list
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg shopping list
- 1 teaspoon allspice shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 cup shortening shopping list
- 1-1/2 cups sugar shopping list
- 3 egg yolks shopping list
- 1 cup jam shopping list
- 1 cup applesauce shopping list
- 1 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 3 egg whites beaten until stiff peaks from when beater is pulled up shopping list
- 1-1/2 cups raisins shopping list
- 2 cups chopped walnuts shopping list
- powdered sugar shopping list
How to make it
- Sift flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, allspice and salt then set aside.
- Beat shortening until well blended.
- Gradually add sugar and egg yolks beating until light and fluffy.
- Stir in jam and applesauce then mix well.
- Add sifted ingredients alternately with buttermilk blending well after each addition.
- Fold in egg whites, raisins and walnuts.
- Turn into 2 square pans that have been greased and lined with wax paper.
- Bake at 350 for 50 minutes.
- Top with powdered sugar just before serving.
