Pesto is a wonderful Italian invention, a sort of sauce that goes with any savory dish. This recipe comes from "The Body in the Bonfire", a Faith Fairchild mystery.

Ingredients
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Garlic cloves
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • OPTIONAL:
  • Pine nuts
  • Parmesan cheese, grated.

Directions
  1. Tear the basil into small pieces.
  2. Chop several cloves of garlic into small pieces.
  3. Place all the ingredients in a blender and puree until mostly smooth.
  4. May be frozen.
  5. There are regular and special versions of prepared pesto sauce that can be found in specialty markets.
