How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 200 C, 200 F or Gas mark 6
  • Sieve plain flour, bread soda & salt into bowl. Add Brown flour and mix well with hands
  • Make a hole in the middle and add the milk. Mix with wooden spoon adding more milk if required. TIP: best to add milk bit my bit than in one go
  • Sieve some flour on a table and empty bread dough onto it
  • Knead dough for a few minutes and finally make a circle of the mixture.
  • Mark dough with a cross
  • Sieve flour onto baking tray and cook bread in preheated oven for 30 minutes
  • When taking out of oven wrap in a tea towel until cool enough to eat
  • Serving suggestion
  • Eat with Irish salted butter and fresh smoked salmon
  • Also serve with my potato leak soup (see other recipe)
