Irish Brown Soda Bread

- 2 Cups (8oz) Plain white flour shopping list
- 2 Cups (8oz) Brown (wholemeal) flour shopping list
- 2 teaspoons bread Soda shopping list
- pinch salt shopping list
- 285ml (1/2 pint) milk shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 200 C, 200 F or Gas mark 6
- Sieve plain flour, bread soda & salt into bowl. Add Brown flour and mix well with hands
- Make a hole in the middle and add the milk. Mix with wooden spoon adding more milk if required. TIP: best to add milk bit my bit than in one go
- Sieve some flour on a table and empty bread dough onto it
- Knead dough for a few minutes and finally make a circle of the mixture.
- Mark dough with a cross
- Sieve flour onto baking tray and cook bread in preheated oven for 30 minutes
- When taking out of oven wrap in a tea towel until cool enough to eat
- Serving suggestion
- Eat with Irish salted butter and fresh smoked salmon
