How to make it

  • Prepare brownies according to package instructions. Pour into a greased 9" x 13" x 2" pan.
  • Bake according to package instructions.
  • When cool, cut into squares and remove from pan.
  • Clean pan thoroughly and lightly grease once more. Place brownies back in greased pan.
  • Combine chocolate and coffee in top of a double boiler and melt over boiling water. Remove from heat.
  • Beat egg yolks and stir in a small amount of chocolate mixture. Pour egg mixture into remaining chocolate mixture and stir until smooth.
  • Stir in liqueur. Set aside to cool.
  • Beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually add sugar and beat until stiff.
  • Whip cream until stiff. Fold into chocolate mixture.
  • Fold in egg whites.
  • Pour chocolate filling over brownies.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and chill at least 4 hours or until firm.
  • Invert brownies onto serving platter and drizzle on glaze. Let set and serve.
  • Glaze:
  • Combine chocolate and coffee in a double boiler. Heat until melted. Stir well.
  • Note:
  • I use a glass baking dish, serve the brownies out of it, and drizzle the glaze on each individual serving. Enjoy!
