St Vincent De Pauls Bread Pudding Recipe

St Vincent De Pauls Bread Pudding Recipe
Recipe out of local paper for bread pudding. I've altered it for my own tasted but will give you the origninal recipe as they had it listed. To me this is nothing without the sauce which I will also include in this recipe.

Ingredients
  • 3 cup milk
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 cup sugars
  • 2 teaspoons cinammon
  • 6 1/2 cups bread pieces (i've used school cafateria rolls to french bread, it all works)
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 beaten eggs
  • 3/4 cup raisins ( I use way less if any)
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • Rum or Bourbon Sauce:
  • 1 c up sugar
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup water (sometimes leave out for a super thick topping)
  • 1-2 jiggers either rum or bourbon.

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Pudding:
  3. Mix sugars and beaten eggs.
  4. Add the milk, vanilla, cinnamon, raisins and butter.
  5. Add bread pieces to this mixture, turn to coat, and let soak for 5 to 10 minutes. If you are craving any add ins, now would be the time to stire them in! ( coconut, pecans, fruit other than raisins, etc.)
  6. Spray a 9 x 13 pan with cooking spray and pour mixture into pan.
  7. Bake for 35-40 min, or until knife comes out clean.
  8. Let cool a bit, cut into squares.
  9. Serve warm with rum or buorbon sauce.
  10. Sauce:
  11. Blend egg, sugar, butter, and water well. Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly, until it boils for one minute and is smooth. Add booze of your choice, remove from heat.
  12. Serve warm over bread pudding.

I haven't like bread pudding too much in the passed but it might have needed the sauce to put it over the top. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
