Penne pasta covered with a zesty Italian sausage tomato sauce topped with Parmesan cheese. Serve with fresh homemade salad and garlic bread. My family loves this stuff! We have experimented with cream but prefer it without.

Ingredients
  • 1 lb sweet Italian sausage (use hot to add more spice)
  • Two 14.5 oz cans roasted garlic and onion tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 4 cups penne pasta cooked according to box directions
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup cream (optional, for a cream sauce)

Directions
  1. Brown Italian sausage, drain well
  2. Add tomatoes, oregano, and crushed red pepper flakes
  3. Simmer until sauce thickens and reduces by half
  4. Mix cream in sauce (optional)
  5. Cook for two minutes, stirring carefully (if adding cream)
  6. Toss with pasta
  7. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top
  8. Serve with salad and garlic bread
  9. Devour
