How to make it

  • Beat in the mortar walnuts with vanilla. Lay half of the kantaifi pastry in an oiled baking pan, spread grated and mashed walnuts and then, on top, the rest of kantaifi. Pour with fresh fragrant butter you've melt and bake at 180 C for half an hour.
  • Boil 1½ l of milk and in the rest of it dilute flour, caster powder and sugar, stirring constantly, so that it won't get lumpy. Once the milk swells, add the rest of it (with caster powder) slowly, stirring constantly.
  • Once the syrup is ready, pour the kantaifi with it and let it cool off. Then put on top the cream. Let the dessert cool off, cover it with whipped cream and some walnuts, and it's ready.
