The Neeleys Hush Puppies Recipe

How to make it

  • Preheat deep fryer to 375 degrees F.
  • Mix all the ingredients together into a large mixing bowl to form a thick batter.
  • Dip 2 tablespoon spoons into water.
  • Using the spoons scoop up some of the batter and drop into the hot oil. Work in batches.
  • Fry for 3 to 4 minutes or until golden and brown.
  • Remove and drain on a paper towel lined sheet tray.
  • Serve with dipping sauce.
  • For sauce, mix all together

    Hi, just tell that to the Neeley's who own and run their Barbecue Resturant in Mephis, TN ! I post to SHARE recipes. Sorry you reduced my ratings. Having collected recipes for over 40 years and also having tasted a variety of hushpuppies, everyone makes their recipes differently!

    Out of curiosity I got on the Net searching out hush puppy dipping sauce from Southern recipe sites. A wide variety of sauces from curry, pineapple and a variety of other sweet sauces!!!!
