How to make it

  • Combine spices, add lamb and toss to coat
  • Sprinkle with flour and toss lightly again
  • Now one may put this into the crockpot BUT for a bit more added flavor, brown the lamb in the butter and olive oil in a pan and then remove meat and saute shallots and onions.
  • Then place onions and shallots in crockpot, then seared lamb.
  • Sprinkle on any leftover flour
  • Add the remaining spices, apricots, honey, cinnamon stick and broth
  • Cook on high for 2 hours.
  • Then add the dates.
  • Cook 1 to 1 1/2 hours more on high or meat fork tender
  • Stir mixture gently
  • Serve over cuscus, or rice.
  • Sprinkle portions with chopped almonds and a slice of lemon
  • This reheats well

Great recipe & what I served tonight over a rice blend with greek salad.

    Changes I made:

Used dry spices as a rub on cubed lamb then let sit in fridge overnight, after coating in flour I seared the lamb.

I also substituted white wine for the vegtable broth.
