Texacan Layered Salad

- 6 cups chopped romaine lettuce shopping list
- 1-1/2 cups red, green, orange or yellow bell peppers or a combo of different colors shopping list
- 14 oz. can pitted black olives, drained, sliced in half shopping list
- 3 roma tomatoes, seeded and chopped shopping list
- 3 cups shredded cabbage (I use coleslaw mix) shopping list
- 2 avocados, peeled, cut in ½” cubes and sprinkled thoroughly with shopping list
- lime juice shopping list
- 1 cup sour cream shopping list
- 1/3 cup salsa shopping list
- ½ teas. chili powder shopping list
- 1-1/2 cups mexican cheese blend shopping list
- 1-1/2 cups slightly crunched tortilla chips shopping list
How to make it
- Layer salad ingredients in order given. Mix together sour cream, salsa and chili powder and whisk to combine. Pour over salad ingredients and then top with cheese and crunched Tortilla chips. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours.
- Note:
- This looks really pretty in a glass salad bowl as you can see the layers but it serves better in a nice glass 9”x13” dish.

I like everything about this, but might be tempted to omit the cabbage or slaw mix. Think that is essential?? Glad to have you as a cooking friend.
