How to make it

  • tear or using 2-inch cookie cutter, tear or cut a hole out of the piece of bread.
  • Butter the bread on both sides, and the cutout fry bread and cutout one side, flip it over, and break an egg into the hole.
  • Let it cook as you like it, then flip it, cook as you like.

    This is a family favorite. We call it a Red Eye... One tip for those who've never made this before. Make sure the skillet is well heated (not cold) when you break the egg into the center or your white runs out under the bread. Still tastes good, just not as pretty and a little messier.

    I love this way to make eggs.I have been making it for 40 years.I use one of those small cups for pre measuring liquid cough syrup to make the hole.I use it as my go to recipe for dinner too when I forget to take something out of the freezer.
