How to make it

  • Wash and trim asparagus to fit large enough frying pan.
  • Add your favorite [butter is mine] butter or olive oil to pan. Add it to your taste, but don't be too stingy with it.
  • Fry with slow to medium heat, gently sprinkling just a hint of the garlic powder over all. Thicker asparagus pieces cook best in center of the pan.
  • You will have to experiment a little according to how you like your asparagus done. If you like it more al-dente, cook it less. But about when half way cooked turn each piece over, cooking till done. Mine is very slightly browned on each side when done. Once you have done this you'll know exactly for next time. The asparagus gets darker green, stays firm and to me has a far better flavor cooked this way.
  • Of course you have to add butter when serving ! You've seen the Butterworth family in the TV ad I hope, with a stick of butter sticking vertically out of each baked potato.
