French Onion Soup Recipe

Ingredients
  • 6 slices of toasted French bread
  • 1/2 c. of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 c. of shredded Swiss cheese
  • 2 thinly sliced onions
  • 1/4 c. of butter
  • 2 tbsp. of all-purpose flour
  • 2 (10.5 oz.) cans of beef broth
  • 2 1/2 c. of water

Directions
  1. First preheat your over to 425 degrees F.
  2. Now separate your onions into single rings.
  3. Then you want to saute onions in butter in pan over medium flame approx. 20 min.
  4. You will want to add in flour and gradually the broth and water.
  5. This will need to boil for approx. 20 min.
  6. While this is boiling, toast your French Bread slices.
  7. In your soup(baking)bowls, place the bread inside the bowls.
  8. Pour in your soup. Springle with cheese.
  9. Let this bake for 10 in. Enjoy!

In step 4, note that it works best to dissolve the flour (preferably corn flour) in a 6 centiliters (quarter cup) of water before mixing with the broth.


Thanks I perfer corn starch as a thickening rather than flour

I've made this recipe before and instead of using water it's a lot better with chicken broth. It gives it more flavor.
