Grilled Brats

- 8 bratwursts (not pre-cooked) shopping list
- 24 ounces beer (light, dark, German, American, your preference) shopping list
- 2 large onions, quartered and thinly sliced shopping list
- 1 bag sauerkraut, rinsed shopping list
- good medium-hot or hot mustard (Hengstenberg rules, but a good brown mustard will do) shopping list
- buns shopping list
How to make it
- Prick the brats all over with a fork, then put in a large saucepan. Add the beer and the onions. Bring to a boil (it will foam!), then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Remove the brats and reserve. Remove the onions with a slotted spoon and reserve.
- Grill the brats, turning them, until nice and brown on all sides. Serve with kraut, onions, and mustard.

Oh yes, that's how we do our brats...doesn't get any better!

I have this recipe, but I use a Dark heavy Beer like Guinness Stout. Damn Good on the grill!
